A Cloverfield sequel is on the way and we’ve got the details right now on Clevver Newsfeed! Today’s episode of Clevver News Feed is brought to you by new Snickers Crisper – For New Kinds of Hunger. A New Kind of Snickers. Fans of 2008’s Cloverfield get excited, a new movie is coming sooner than you think. If you’ve been one of those very vocal fans that have been asking for a Cloverfield sequel for the past few years, we’ve got some good news for you. Paramount Pictures managed to secretly drop a trailer for a Cloverfield follow-up titled, 10 Cloverfield Lane, in front of screenings of 13 Hours last night and after bootleg copies of the trailer started to show up online, the studio has officially released the trailer – which you can check out by clicking the link in the description. The film was originally announced back in 2014 with the title, Valencia and was being described as a post-apocalyptic thriller to be helmed by Portal: No Escape director Dan Trachtenberg. The only connection to Cloverfield at the time was producer J.J. Abrams, but fast forward to today and we now know that not only will it take place in the world of Cloverfield, but we only have to wait until March 11th to see it. Now, we should point out that this isn’t being described as a direct sequel to Cloverfield. After the trailer and new title was revealed, Abrams told Collider quote, “The idea came up a long time ago during production. We wanted to make it a blood relative of Cloverfield. The idea was developed over time. We wanted to hold back the title for as long as possible.” As for the plot of 10 Cloverfield Lane, the film stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as a woman who wakes up to find herself trapped in an underground bunker with two men played by John Goodman and John Gallagher Jr. She’s told that she can’t leave, because the world has been destroyed by nuclear fall-out and she’s not sure what to believe or who to trust. From the trailer we see she attempts to escape the bunker only to find something horrific outside. We can only assume it’s a giant monster, but we’ll have to wait until March to find out for sure. What we do know is the film will not utilize the same found-footage format of the first film. So, who out there is excited for a new Cloverfield movie?
