chutney pudi or chutney powder is must to have item in south indian kitchen. Very easy to make and nutritious protein rich powder goes well with rice and ghee or oil, rotti, idli and for any breakfast.
Here I have the Bele / dal/ lentils chutney powder recipe.
1 cup = 250ml
1 cup split bengal gram / Kadale bELe
around ½ cup split black gram or take only 1.5 chana dal
key lime size tamarind make sure there are no seeds
2 to 3 tbsp jaggery
½ cup to ¾ cup grated dried coconut
10 to 15 curry leaves
1¼ tsp salt
+/- 25 byadgi red chillies
For seasoning:
2 tsp oil
pinch of hing
1 tsp mustard seeds
Chutney pudi can be prepared in many different ways, this is how my mother makes.
