Alignment:
- Stand with feet 3.5 feel apart, turn toes out 45 degrees
- Bend knees to a right angle, lining them directly over ankles
- Move feet 2 inches closer together
- Place forearms on your thighs
- Toes up & spread
- Chest up, lining up back of skull bones directly over sacrum
- Arms in Bollywood position
How to work in the pose:
- Inhale lengthen torso, lifting ribs up and away from waist
- Exhale lift up out of Horse Stance, stopping as soon as the
pose becomes easy
- Exhale lower back down into Horse, moving slowly, until you're in the "weak zone" and Horse feels really challenging
(this may be lower than "thighs parallel to the floor")
- Exhale lift up, moving slowly through the challenging part, until the pose feels easy again
- Repeat 4-8 times
Variations/Modifications:
- To make it a little easier you can stand facing a wall. Rest your hands on the wall, approx.chest height. Use your hands
to support you as you move up and down.
